"Stop and consider God's wonders." Job 37:14
A baby boy named Jamie entered the foster care system when he was only eight months old. He was moved around from home to home over eight times. He said that he always felt like a “rent-a-kid” because no one wanted him.
For this little boy, life had lost all of its luster...all of its wonder.
His life began to turn around when he came to live at the United Methodist Children's Home's group home near Dothan. “Ms. Patsy (a UMCH staff member and Jamie’s social worker) has probably been the only mom I have ever had,” said Jamie.
He finally found a home where people wanted to love him.
As Jamie became an adult, he was able to put the things he learned at UMCH into practice; doing his best at work, helping others, staying positive … and so he built a life for himself, married the love of his life, and they had a beautiful son.
However once again, Jamie had to experience tragedy in his life when his wife became ill and died only six weeks later.
He truly believes, that the only way he survived after his wife’s death, and has been able to care for his now 13-year-old son, was by relying on the skills and values he learned at UMCH.
Consider the wonder of God's ways. Through the United Methodist Children’s Home ministry, God prepared a little boy so long ago to face man-sized hardships and stay faithful .. and Jamie’s life is now full of the wonders of God’s loving grace!
The United Methodist Children's Home ministry gives children and families hope for a better tomorrow. Because of the generous gifts we receive from YOU, hundreds of children regain the wonder of life and begin to experience the love of God.... Thank you.
