Michael’s father was in jail, and his mother abandoned him. Living with his aunt and uncle, Michael was four years old when he came into the care of our ministry’s Comprehensive Family Support Services (CFSS).
The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.
Nahum 1:7 (NKJV)
When Michael began having behavior problems – as so many abandoned children do – we provided parenting support for the aunt and uncle, and counseling for Michael to learn how to better cope with grief and stress.
The Old Testament tells us that people struggled in a turbulent world just as we do now. God heard the cry of the suffering, and through the prophets, God promised to lift them out of their despair.
But this is the covenant that I will make … I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people… for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD… (Jeremiah 31:33-34)
The promise is fulfilled through Christ and the love He shared with those most in need, including children. He is the new covenant, the transforming power capable of writing the law of love on the hearts of people everywhere.
In a world of stressed-out families, abused children, and neglected youth, the need for hope, healing, and new beginnings is ever more urgent.
Who but Christ can answer that need?
It is in His service that the United Methodist Children’s Home works diligently to repair shattered hearts and broken families… until they all know “from the least to the greatest.”
Michael’s aunt and uncle have taken their work with CFSS to heart, and have committed to caring for Michael permanently. Michael has shown a lot of progress and is now an A and B student. Praise God’s transforming love!
With Christ as our guide, we write the law of love on one heart at a time, transforming despair to hope and sad endings into joyful new beginnings. Your support makes these transformations happen! Thank you for your prayers and generous gifts to our ministry.
