Thank you for your interest in employment with the United Methodist Children’s Home. We offer full, part-time and relief (scheduled on an as needed basis) employment, as well as internships for students who are pursuing a degree in social work or counseling.
Please carefully read the job summary and minimum requirements of the job(s) you are interested in and only apply for those jobs for which you meet the minimum requirements and for which a job is available. After an initial review by the Human Resources Department only those resumes and/or employment applications from applicants who have applied for an available job and who meet the minimum requirements are forwarded to the hiring supervisor.
Employment applications and/or resumes of applicants who are not selected for an interview are kept on file (active status) for one year. If you wish to apply for an additional or newly open position and have active information on file, please contact the Human Resources Department at 334-386-5354 or toll free at 800-239-3575.
Please Note: All sections of the employment application must be completed even if you include a resume. Any section of an employment application that states ‘see resume’ or ‘see attachment’ in lieu of completion is incomplete and will not be accepted.
The Children’s Home recognizes academic degrees from institutions that are accredited by an agency authorized by the U.S. Department of Education. In order to receive education credit the Human Resources Department must receive an official transcript from the appropriately accredited institution. Applicants who have obtained their education outside of the United States and its territories must have their academic degree validated as equivalent to the degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
All offers of employment are conditional based on a satisfactory background check that includes a check of: employment and personal references, state-wide criminal history, driving record, Child Abuse & Neglect Registry (Alabama) or Affidavit of Good Moral Character (Florida), letters of suitability from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and passing a pre-employment physical examination that includes a TB skin test and drug screen. Proof of education, professional licensure (if applicable) and automobile insurance is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily prevent an offer of employment from being extended; however, it may cause certain positions from being available. Failure to disclose information about a criminal conviction on the employment application is considered falsification of the employment application and will result in the applicant not being eligible for employment.
The United Methodist Children’s Home employs only U.S. citizens and aliens who can provide proof of identity and work authorization within the first three (3) working days of employment.
