About Us

Our Mission is to follow the example of Christ by embracing all God's children ... one child, one family at a time.

The Children's Home makes a real difference in the lives of children. It has helped to transform the lives of thousands of hurting children since 1890. Many of our alumni are now successful adults who are giving back to the communities which gave to them.

The need continues, however, and there are hundreds of other children who require our help. By supporting the United Methodist Children's Home, YOU can make a life changing difference.

We presently offer the following services:

  • Residential Programs - Group homes for children, teens, and young mothers; transitional living homes for young adults

  • Foster Care Programs - Recruitment, training, licensing and support of therapeutic and regular foster homes

  • Family Preservation & Support Services - For families dealing with child abuse and neglect

  • Adoption & Other Programs - Adoption home studies, scholarships and family aid

  • Spiritual Life & Development - Programs and events that promote spiritual healing, growing and living

Our experienced staff also provides training and educational opportunities to families in the community, to help strengthen and support families. Visit our Service Area Map to link to the program nearest you for more information and opportunities.

Our Scholarship Fund provides for college or vocational training for any resident or foster child of the Children’s Home upon graduation from high school. Those who meet the entrance requirements of their target schools and who do well once enrolled are eligible for scholarship aid. This program is funded entirely by contributions from businesses and individuals.

Just as any family would support their own children after they have left the nest, we also are able to help struggling alumni when the situation warrants it. Family Aid is available to former Children’s Home residents and foster children--or those in our Transitional Living Program--who find themselves in financial crises.

For former residents who choose to go directly into the work force after graduation from high school, family aid may be available to help with the initial costs of setting up a household. This program is fully dependent upon private contributions.
