  • Be Looking for Your UMCH Back to School Letter in the Mail
    Children are heading back to school, and UMCH needs your help to provide school supplies, books, educational materials, school clothes, field trips, academic tutoring, and other basic needs our children may have. Look for your Back to School Letter in your mailbox and meet a couple of our children. You can also read how they are turning a corner and experiencing success on our weblog.

  • Gulf Coast Girls Are Having a Great Summer
    Four of our Gulf Coast Group Home residents attended a week long summer camp at the Blue Lake Methodist Camp in June. Then, all of our Gulf Coast girls were accepted into a special “youth works” program for the month of July, where they learned excellent job skills.   • Ms. Minnie Richards
    UMCH was very sad to learn that Ms. Minnie Richards, a former UMCH Therapeutic Foster Care parent, passed away in February. Ms. Minnie provided a safe and structured home to over twelve therapeutic foster children and provided short term care to countless others. The United Methodist Children's Home remembers her for the tireless effort she made on behalf of children in her care. Read more about Ms. Minnie on our weblog.

  • UMCH Honors Board Member Roy Day
    On July 14th, retiring UMCH Board member Roy Day was presented with a plaque commemorating his service as chair of the UMCH Relocation Task Force since its inception in October, 2007. When the move to the new headquarters location is finalized, the plaque will be placed in the new conference room which will be called the Roy E. Day Conference Room.   • 10th Annual UMCH Softball Tournament - Nine teams competed in the 10th Annual United Methodist Men's Softball Tournament on Saturday, June 19th, benefiting the United Methodist Children's Home. The three-game guarantee tournament held at the Al Trione Sports Complex in Daphne, Alabama. The team from Andalusia UMC won first place; Fairhope UMC finished second; and Ozark UMC came in third.   • UMCH 22nd Annual Awards Day - Each year the children living in our group homes are awarded for their progress or accomplishments in the past year at a special event. The 22nd Annual Awards Day Ceremony was held at Frazer Memorial UMC in Montgomery, Alabama. The ceremony, held for our children from all eight UMCH group homes, is sponsored each year by the Grace Bellis Foundation and United Methodist Men's Club of St. Andrews UMC in Panama City, Florida.   • Outstanding UMCH Satisfaction Survey Outcomes - Our 2009 Satisfaction Surveys came back with excellent results! The 2009 Resident Satisfaction Survey results showed 93% of children placed with UMCH said that UMCH has helped them, and 85% said they would recommend UMCH to another child who could not live at home.
