The Children's VillageAt the Children's Village, we provide four different types of residential care services for children and young adults who are unable to live in their own homes. There are seven active cottages on campus at the Village. Degreed, experienced caregivers supervise up to four childcare workers in each group cottage. Boys and girls from all of the Villages programs can benefit from both an on-campus school and assessment services. The school helps prevent loss of academic credits and assists the students with remedial work. The assessments diagnose and evaluate a childs intellectual, behavioral, social and psychological functioning. A full range of recreational and Spiritual Life & Development activities afford residents opportunity for physical exercise, social development, and spiritual growth. Those not enrolled in the on-campus school are educated in the public schools of the Selma City School District, where they benefit from special programs for at-risk children. Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery and other local United Methodist churches offer programs and services in which the children participate on a voluntary basis, and we encourage them to take part in other extracurricular activities. In addition to residential programs, the Central Therapeutic Foster Care program is administrated from the Village. The Children's Village is home to these programs: |
