You Can Help All God's Children Well Into the Future

It is important for all of us to plan for the future--even the future well beyond our own lifetime. To consider our children in your planning is truly a kind and compassionate act.

One of the best ways to help support this ministry well into the future is with planned gifts. You can help keep God's ministry to hurting children secure by leaving your legacy through current or deferred gifts that will benefit generations of children.

As you consider your long-term charitable giving, we encourage you to talk with an attorney or financial planner to find the best options for you. Or contact us and we can help connect you with helpful resources.

There are many ways you can help. Below are some Planned Giving options.

  • Cash Gifts

Giving a gift to a worthy charity like the United Methodist Children's Home can benefit your family by making good use of the annual income tax charitable deduction. For example, if your income falls in the 33% income tax bracket, a $1,000 gift to UMCH claimed as a charitable deduction might save you about $330. Consult with your tax advisor on what the deduction would be as it may change from year to year.

  • Employer Matching Gifts

Some employers will match charitable gifts, so find out if your company has a matching gift program. Then simply send its form in with your check.

  • Stock and Estate Gifts

By giving a gift of stocks or properties, you would avoid paying any capital gains taxes on value increases, and you would receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stocks and properties.

  • Life Income Gifts

These gifts can increase your current income while providing a major gift to UMCH. By establishing a charitable remainder trust or a charitable remainder annuity trust, you could transfer cash or stock to UMCH and receive a 5% or greater annual return for life, after which the assets would be distributed to UMCH.

  • Bequests

For long-term tax savings, bequest gifts to UMCH are a good investment. After all, the federal estate tax can take 40 – 50% of your estate at the time of death. It would be to your benefit to do some careful advance planning with your attorney or financial advisor.

  • Make UMCH Your Beneficiary

You can list the United Methodist Children's Home as a beneficiary on life insurance policies. This is a simple way to help provide this ministry with a significant future gift, and a very compassionate way to leave your legacy.
