Local Church Connections

We Are a Connectional Ministry with Your Church

The Children's Home ministry is not possible without the active support of every United Methodist Church. We have tremendous support from Local Church Representatives, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, Lay Leaders, Clergy, youth, children, Sunday School classes, individual members … and even United Methodist softball teams!

As our family in Christ, it takes the entire United Methodist community to ensure the success and security of this vital ministry for another century. If your church would like to get more involved, get connected starting right here … right now!

  • Local Church Representatives
Local Church RepresentativesYour church can appoint someone to be the Local Church Representative (LCR) who coordinates the events and helps tell our stories.

The LCR is one of our most important volunteer positions. There are 1,500 churches in the two conferences we serve. We have a small communications and fundraising staff. A proactive and responsive volunteer at the local level is vital to our efforts to get the word out.

LCRs help us promote mission and giving opportunities, upcoming events and anything related to the work of taking care of children and families in all of our facilities.

    The LCR...

...coordinates special offerings and local fundraising events

    ...distributes informational materials

    ...announces events or mission opportunities

    ...arranges for visiting speakers

...collaborates with other LCRs at nearby churches

...tells the stories of the children and families we serve

Appointing an LCR - If you are appointing a new LCR for your church, contact the Public Relations and Development Office to let us know who you have assigned to this position. In most cases, the best person for the job is a lay person who can focus his or her outreach efforts on keeping the mission of this ministry on the minds and in the hearts of the congregation.

Becoming an LCR - Call our Public Relations and Development Office or check with your minister or missions director to see if your church has appointed an LCR. If not, volunteer! We'll get you all the information you need to get started.
